Re: All England Dance Semi Finals

I think it would be nice to see some adjudicators be a little bit more up to date with the trends of modern dance. Some I have seen are very set in their ways, and expect very traditional modern dances. Children these days like to do something a bit more up to date. And I think it is a good thing to...

Re: what's the difference ?

I think there is a difference between the two types of dancing. From what I know, Hip Hop is a musical genre that was first popular in the late 70s and early 80s! I think then people decided to start putting dance moves to that style of music. Like the moves you see today all the 'locking' and 'popp...

Re: What is the difference between modern and Contemporary?

Re: New Hairstyles

The website sounds good. I will have a look at that as we are always interested in new ideas.
I do like the french plaites with a bun at the back. It does make a dancers hair look neat. It is a great hair style for group dances it really finishes off a dance.

GCSE Dance

Hi I am wondering if anyone can help me? I am looking for places in Swansea that do GCSE dance.
Possibly evening classes, for some students I work with in a local Swansea school.

Thanks.

Re: tap music

I have tap danced to Sing, Sing, Sing which I love it was and still is one of my favourite tap dances I have ever done.
It won us a few medals over the years we did it.
I have also tap danced to Cute. It was my last tap solo! Again a great peice of music.

Re: looking at the floor

I use to have that problem when I was younger. And as Lucy and Tapper89 say pick a spot to focus on does help and getting someone to call your name everytime you look down can help too. Those both worked for me. Remember the audience need to see your face to show your enjoying the dance, this use to...

Re: Diversity - Britain's Got Talent

I loved Diversity they were the best dance group on the show. I voted for them! a few times.
I love the ideas that the choreographer comes up with. In a class of their own.

Re: shoutbox?

I like the idea of the shout box. It can be a good chance for the younger students to talk to each other.

Re: own arrangment music

I would go with the idea of what your favourite dance style is or the one your better at, then use a piece of music you really want to dance too.
I have always gone down that route. This is your chance to create something different.

Re: Jumping over you foot.

That is a good idea. I will try that with them. Maybe they could use the barre aswell. I like the idea of not looking at your foot too.

Thanks very much :D

Jumping over you foot.

Could do with some help with this too!
I have some girls who are jumping over their foot in a tap dance, any suggestions to get them going? It is hard to do but I know once they have it they will be fine. Just need some easy exercises to get them going.

Time steps.

I am wondering if anyone can help? Even though it is the norm to start time steps on 8 and end on 7. Is starting a time step on 8 better than starting it on 1 or does it depend on your music? What do people think is easier to explain to the students? Im finding some are getting confussed by starting...

Re: to heavy

Hello! I think what Fred said is right. It is not really a bad thing to tap heavy. You just need to learn how and when to use it. Maybe you have happened to do a lot of tap dances where heavy work has come into it, and now you might have some lighter music which means you need to get use to it. List...
