Parent of boy dancer

Postby Ronnie » Mon May 11, 2009 7:30 pm

Hi - I'm a 'retired' dancer and am delighted that my 7 year old little boy has decided he wants to tap! Any other mums of 'male dancers' out there? I'd be interested to know how you deal with any bullying from other boys who 'are n't co-ordinated or strong enough' to be come dancers (that is the line I'm taking at the moment). Any suggestions would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie - welcome to the forum.

Based on the information you have given, you are an ex-dancer yourself, and i am guessing that you are also male (Ronnie?).

Did you have any difficulties as a boy dancer, and how did you cope?

I never really experienced bullying as a boy dancer but I must admit that it did cause me some embarasement on occasions. The one thing that I used as a retaliation to the other boys who teased me was the fact that I had loads of 'girl-friends' and I am pretty sure that this caused some jealousy :D

The bullys soon realised that I was better off than them.
