I've never done much lyrical, but from what I can tell, it seems that Ballet would help you gain the strength to do a lot of things you have to do in lyrical.

It's never to late to start ballet, I know a lot of people who started when they started uni, so aged 18+!

Sorry that's not that great an answer, but if you want to do ballet, don't let the idea that your too old to start any type of dancing stop you, as it's not true, you're never to old to start anything.

i do ballet and lyrical and i think the ballet does help alot because it gives you stength in your centre and some lyrical steps are based on or are quite similar to ballet steps. also, ballet helps with the general streched feet/arm and leg lines and it can help your movements flow better. maybe you should give ballet lessons a try because ballet helps with other things aswell not just lyrical. hope this helps!!!! :D

Hello.
I think to do lyrical then having done some ballet will help, even if it is just the basic. So you have more control of your centre and your feet are well placed.
Try some basic ballet lessons and see if it helps, you don't have to become an amazing ballet dancer, just try it out.
Don't worry though you can't be good at all styles of dance. And you probably won't enjoy all styles either.

Just have fun. :D

I never did lyrical as it was not really a recognised dance sublect when I was younger, and it think lyrical can be more difficult for boys anyway.

However, I did take ballet for a couple of years. I never performed ballet, but it deffinatley helped with my mod and tap. The biggest improvement was to my posture and discipline.

I took ballet classes for a couple of years and it helped me with my tap and modern work. It improved my posture. I never performed any ballet dancers.
It helps with lyrical a lot and can be used as a softer form of ballet. I enjoy lyrical dancing, it only came out in the last few years of my festival days, so never did any dances myself.
I do love teaching it though. And would suggest students take basic ballet lessons to help them if they can.

It is never too late to start doing something you love. If you want to dance just go for it.
